This summer we embarked on our crazy adventure of coaching T-Ball for the first time. We just wrapped up our season, and although it was just a short 8 weeks, it was full of excitement. Coaching 3 and 4 year old boys can be a challenge, but these boys made significant progress. Luke had the most fun of all. He's a great hitter, and he loved each game. I realized that I'm not the best person to coach a real team. Coaching isn't something that you can just wing. A coach needs to be a bit more competitive, and have a competitive spirit. We were the kind of coaches that just wanted to have fun. So we had lots of fun!

Ready...1,2,3 GO!
We are keeping busy so far this summer. Life never slows down, it only gets busier and busier. Our kids love to be involved, so we aren't slowing down. They are masters at riding bikes. We tried to convince Luke is was time to take off his training wheels since he will be turning 5 soon. He said it was "a little too scary" to do that. So for now, they are two peas in a pod riding around the neighborhood. Their bikes go in time out if they ride in the street. So far, we've only had to have two time outs. It's devastating for them to lose their bikes. They just want to be free spirits, and ride around to find new friends. It seems like every day is a new adventure for these two.
Clara started her first combo dance class. This was one proud mommy moment. She was so excited to wear her "ballerina clothes". She's the youngest girl and the littlest girl in the class, but that hasn't stopped her. Often times she's the only little girl listening and doing things correctly. She is completely a natural, and seems to have talent already! She absolutely loves it. After dance class on her first day, she excitedly walked to the car and said "mommy, I do so good!" I just had to laugh, because she really has a knack for it already! I imagine lots of dancing in our future! She just holds a thumbs up to me when she thinks she's doing well in class. She also carries this cheesy grin throughout class. It makes me so happy to see her loving it!
Luke just finished up his first soccer season. He had so much fun. Luke isn't very good at keeping the ball in bounds, but he can run really fast. He is super aggressive and wants to score every goal. He is a man on a mission when it was his turn to play. Sometimes he would throw the occasional elbow, and not share the ball very well, but we are working on him being a better team player. He certainly has the focus, and the will power to succeed, we've just got to work on his aggression! He just wants to win! We've already signed him up for next year, and he's got an amazing coach. He loves soccer so much, more than any other sport.
The kids love playing goofy golf. Luke tries so hard to start from the beginning of each hole, and play the game correctly. These two are so competitive with each other. They are always talking to each other about who is going to win, and who is the loser. Clara totally cheats at goofy golf. She picks her ball up, and goes straight to the hole. There is no need for her to mess around with any obstacles. She puts her ball a few inches from the hole, and always gets a hole in one. She exclaims that she won to everyone around. Luke kindly tells her she is cheating. Oh well, they are so cute when they do it! Luke has also mastered some kind of victory dance. Since we didn't teach him this, it must just be innate. Sometimes when he scored a goal during soccer it came out, and all the parents had a good laugh. He loves to do his victory dance in goofy golf. He just has this vibe, and a winners strut that is hilarious.
Most of the time, these two really are best friends. I hear them whispering to each other about their crazy ideas of what they should do next. They feed off of each others imaginations. Once one kid does it, the other follows suit. They laugh at each other, and tell the silliest knock knock jokes. Someone has taught them that tooting noises are funny. So they are constantly making noises and then laughing hysterically at each other. They are sad when the other one is sleeping, and are constantly wondering where the other one is.
We also embarked on another crazy adventure. We decided to coach the t-ball team for Luke. Our team is comprised of 3 and 4 year old boys, who have never even held a baseball mitt before. It can be a challenge to keep them focused on the ball, and not the dirt or the butterfly's. However, it is loads of fun, and I laugh every game. We have kids who run from third base to first base, or kids who hit the ball, and then immediately run after it to catch it. Luke is so competitive in baseball too. He hits well, and always wants to chase the ball no matter what position he's playing. This has been a fun season to see Luke grow, and learn that coaching is hard work!

Summer
Summer has officially arrived and these two kiddos couldn't be happier. They have been living in their swimming suits, even sleeping in them! They love to play outside. Since we live on the park, there are constant streams of friends in the back yard to play with. They have been riding bikes, jumping on the trampoline, and spending endless hours with the pools and slip n slide in the back yard. My kids are just outdoor adventurers, and are always looking for new ways to play outside. I wish I could bottle up all the hilarious things they say and save it forever.
