Interview with Luke

Fun in the Sun

Summer Fun

It is getting HOT here in Utah.
The other day it was 97!
I'm sure our first 100 is right around the corner.
So Luke and I beat the heat by playing outside in the water.
Luke LOVES to play with the water.

I have a nice set up
Sitting in the shade, with my feet in the pool.
Luke and I spend hours outside.

Luke asks "outside, outside, outside" over and over until we go outside.
He doesn't take "no" for an answer.
He is so tired at night because he's been playing in the sun all day.
How fun it is to be a kid!

Favorite Things

Luke has turned into an official cartoon lover!
He climbs up into the rocker, and just chillaxes, as he enjoys his favorite cartoons.

He also enjoys dumping out all his toys and playing with the actual bucket.
I guess it's much more fun to watch cartoons from inside the bucket.

Some favorite things Luke does lately:

He says "oh no" or "I stuck" with so much emotion. It's hard for me not to laugh at him, even though sometimes the things that are "oh no" or that are "stuck" are things he wasn't supposed to have in the first place. It is just down right hilarious to hear him say it this way.

When he wants something, he will hold out his hand, or wait for you to give it to him. Assuming he is going to get what he wants, he will say "thank-you" before he even gets it. Regardless of whether or not he is going to get what he wants.

He knows he is not allowed to touch or have certain things. One particular thing happens to be the remote. He goes for it every time its within his reach. When he sees that he has been caught, he will bring it back to you and say "thank-you" like it ain't no thing that he was just touching something he wasn't supposed to have. Silly boy.

Or how he is COMPLETELY addicted to his binki. He is allowed to have his binki when sleeping or in the car. 1 binki is not enough, he will complain the whole car ride unless he has 2 binkis. This kid is absolutel spoiled!

Everytime we pass a park, he says "oh wow" like we are automatically going to stop and play.

Sometimes when Gilbert gets home from work, Luke acts excited to see him, by running to him at the door. However, what Luke really wants is to get out the door before Gilbert shuts it. It had nothing to do with the fact that daddy is now home to play, it has everything to do with his opening for an opportunity to go outside.

Luke could play for hours in the sink. He doesn't care that he gets wet, he just wants to play with running water. He has now discovered the hose, and is obsessed with watering the flowers.

Luke also loves to play "hair". He watches mommy "play hair" so whenever he gets the opportunity, he grabs the comb and tries to comb our hair. I think its cute!

Whenever we go to a store, Luke will always find the balls. It doesn't matter what kind of ball it is, he will say "its a ball" or "there it is" the whole store until we pass the display of the balls, and then it is trouble for me! He is upset if we don't get a ball for him on every single shopping trip. He often looses ball privelages because he throws them at the tv, but the kid can throw a ball, and it just might be his favorite toy.

Luke loves to take the couch cushions off the couch. He makes a pile of them and then jumps from the couch to the cushions saying "bounce, bounce, bounce." He thinks its hilarious, and our couch is so old, I really couldn't care less. He has fun doing it! Which leads me to my questions of, where did he learn this from? Some things just come naturally to boys. We didn't teach him this one.

Just a few of my favorite things...

Daddy

Since Father's Day is fast approaching,
its only fitting that we are grateful for the "daddy" of this household.
In the picture above, Luke is enjoying frozen chocolate chips,
which is also a favorite of his daddy.
In my opinion(brandi), Luke looks just like his daddy.
When I look at Luke, I see Gilbert.
I know people say its hard to see or say one way or the other in your own kids.
This kid is just a lot like his daddy.
The blue eyes, he gets from both of us though.

Daddy's are great.
Luke would be lost without one.
When daddy comes home, it is nothing but play time.
Or movie watching time.

I was teasing Gilbert explaining that Luke is turning into a tv bum.
Especially with cool gadgets like an ITouch to watch endless videos on.
Luke is seriously spoiled, that is for sure.
He gets all our attention, and gets to do lots of fun things.

Luke looks forward to Gilbert coming home every day from work.
We look out the window and wait for him.
When Luke hears the garage door opening,
he stops what he's doing,
and waits for daddy to walk in the door
because play time has officially begun.

We are grateful for daddies who love us,
are patient with us,
who always make time for us,
make things fun,
and are just great to be around!

Toys

Luke has been busy lately.
Mostly causing trouble like normal.
He is just not satisfied unless he is entertained 24-7.
Sometimes he can entertain himself, which isn't always a good thing.

We've been washing clothes and getting ready for our new arrival.
Thankfully, we bought a year wardrobe from Luke's cousin,
so we just needed to wash, fold and organize.
As you can see in the picture above, Luke is not helping in the organizing.
He thought it was loads of fun to throw everything on the floor,
then jump on it,
then throw it to another location,
and jump on it again.
He entertained himself doing this for over an hour,
its just so many clothes to have fun with!

Luke has been on a "throwing" kick lately.
He just wants to throw everything and anything.
Today, he decided to throw all his toys, out of the bucket.
Then he climbed in himself.
This was great, because then he re-discovered all the toys at the bottom of the bucket.
He just always seems to find something to destroy.

This kid stays constantly busy all day long.
He certainly tells me he gets bored of me and the house quickly!
Sometimes he stands at the door as early as 8am and waves bye-bye to me,
letting me know its time for us to go somewhere,
he is SO over staying home all day!

No matter what we do, we can't seem to get this kid to sleep in.
The toddler bed is working out fabulously.
He goes to sleep a lot easier now that he can get in and out by himself.
However, this kid has an internal clock set to 5 am!
Every day, without a doubt, he wakes up at 5 am!
Suggestions?
I don't know where he gets all his energy.
I should figure out how to bottle it and sell it, and I could retire ASAP!
Who can wake up at 5 am and then go-go-go all day?
Someday, he will learn that sleep is good, and he should get more of it!

Life is good....

Luke and I have had a nasty stomach bug all week,
and what could be better than to make cookies for a nice home remedy?
We have taught Luke well, cookie dough is delicious!

Luke always wants to sit up on the counter when I am cooking,
he wants to be right in the action and sometimes he is a little too helpful.
He always asks for bites of whatever I am cooking.
It doesn't matter, he wants to taste it.
He especially loves cookie dough.

How could you tell a kid as cute as this that he can't eat cookie dough?

Well really we don't tell him "no" on anything he wants to eat.
He is one spoiled kid, he can have whatever he wants and as much as he wants.
We love it when he asks for more!
