Memorial Day Weekend Project

This Holiday weekend we decided to work on the back yard because honestly- it needed a lot of help.  We called in the big guns- a.k.a. grandma and grandpa.  They know how to do things the right way.  The above photo isn't a true before photo.  The true before photo would truly be too embarrassing to post.   The weeds in between the trees were about 4 feet tall!
Thanks to some weed barrier and bark, and some stone edging, we were able to contain the tree area, and make it have some separation!  Here's to hoping the kids don't throw the bark everywhere in the yard!

Preschool Graduation

Luke's first year of preschool came to an end.
So we attended his first preschool graduation.
As you can see, Clara was excited to be there!

Luke was a little young to start preschool,
especially since he still has 2 more years of preschool,
but he absolutely LOVED it!
Here he is with his teachers- Miss Kristi and Miss Mandi.
He often included them in his prayers, it was just too cute!

They put on a cute program where they recited the nursery rhymes and songs they had learned.
Luke seems a bit shy, but he likes his classmates and friends.

Luke was so excited to be "graduating" from preschool.
Although, I don't think he fully understood that it meant we don't get to go to preschool anymore.
He will be excited when we start up preschool again in the fall.

Most of the kids in his preschool are also in our neighborhood and ward,
so he gets to play with them in the park,
and at church.
Luke's teachers also made a really cool scrap book for him of the year.
He adores the book, and flips through it looking at all his pictures.
He just loves looking at all the things they did throughout the year!

cute???

It's going to be a clothes optional kind of summer.
Luke has really been into Sponge Bob Square Pants lately-
so when he saw these pjs
he just had to have them!
The kids have been in love with the weather,
if you give them a shovel with some dirt and the hose, they are happy kids!
Some things I want to remember that Luke has said lately:
First, the other night in his prayers he said-
"thank-you for my sponge bob square pants balloon"
He also prayed saying thank you for the hose and the sprayer on the hose.
Second-
I started saying "I love you" which he repeats back to me
then I said "I love you more"
so he repeated that
then I said
"I love you the most"
so he repeated that
then I said
"I love you to the moon"
I was anticipating him to copy me again.
So I could then say- I love you to the moon and back- but then he said
"I love you to the tv"
I just had to chuckle at that.
His 3 year old little brain thought of that one all on his own.
Apparently the tv is far away like the tv.

Clara is becoming more and more the diva.
She is such a screamer, and she has a will to win.
She will try and scream her way out of anything.
She thinks if she screams loud and long enough, she will get her way.
She will scream over any little or big thing,
it doesn't matter, she just screams.
I'm just going to have to figure out how to out smart her on this screaming thing....
She may look cute, but this screaming thing has GOT to stop!

dentistry

The past two weeks have been a rough two weeks, especially for Luke.  Luke is a pretty resilient kid, seemingly with lots of energy but he has had some dental problems that have made his life miserable.  He's making a funny face in this photo, only because we are hoping his dental problems are in his past now.  A couple weeks ago, Luke had major dental work done.  He had severe acid reflux that lasted long than it should have as a baby, which lead to deteriorated teeth.  We had to crown some of his molars.  One of which decided to cause further problems.  In the middle of the night, an abscess decided to present itself.  Of course these things always happen in the middle of the night on the weekends, which is exactly what happened.  After antibiotics, it was decided that the tooth needed to go.  So Luke had his first tooth pulled today.

He wasn't happy about having more dental work done, he wouldn't even look at the dentist, and I don't blame him.  I don't want to look at the dentist either for the bill I have to pay him (or I should say the bill Gilbert will be paying).  Luke was a brave little boy.  He is all about breaking things down into steps.  He knew his tooth was hurting him.  He knew he wanted to make his tooth all better, and this was the only way.  The poor kid has had to deal with enough already!  So the first step was to be brave and get his tooth pulled.  He was bribed of course, and now he is a much happier kid!

Here is hoping for a better dental future!
