On Christmas Eve, we wanted to pack in as much fun as possible. We took the kids to a jumping place, then we came home to make an awesome Gingerbread house.
Later that evening we had a dinner party and had loads of fun decorating sugar cookies for Santa. Luke and Clara really enjoyed decorating cookies. Clara spent over an hour frosting and using every sprinkle imaginable. The kids were worn out from our busy day, but were still so excited for Santa to come that they didn't want to go to sleep.
Christmas morning is always so exciting. My kids are generally early risers, but Clara woke up at 5am and was literally shaking with excitement. Luke and Gilbert were still sleeping, so we had to wait for them to wake up. Clara patiently waited while watching cartoons.
Luke woke up around 6am, and we headed out to the living room to see what Santa brought. As the kids first lay eyes on the gifts, the pure joy in their faces is literally the best moment ever.
The kids were absolutely excited. My favorite line from Luke was "that's the best present ever that I didn't even know that I wanted!" They kept saying how this was the best day ever or the best Christmas ever. Watching them tear through the wrapping paper is seriously the best gift for me.
The other Christmas miracle we received was snow on Christmas day. It snowed most of the day, and we were able to go out and play for a while. It wasn't a wet snow, so their dreams of building snow man didn't work out.
The kids have already started asking how many days until next Christmas...
