You NEED this recipe...

I call these "almond joy brownies".  It's a variation from my mom's recipe.  These are to DIE for, and make sure you are giving some of these away, or else you will eat the whole pan!!!

Brownie:
4 1oz. squares unsweetened bakers chocolate
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
1 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Filling:
3 cups flaked coconut
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract

Topping:
6 Tbs. butter
6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a 9x13 pan.
In a large saucepan, melt the chocolate and butter over low heat and then remove from heat.
Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup and then level off.
Add sugar, and eggs to butter chocolate mixture and mix well.
Then add flour, salt and vanilla.
Spread 1/2 chocolate mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x13 pan.
Lightly spoon filling over the chocolate batter.
Carefully spread the remaining batter over the filling evenly.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, the edges will be firm, and center will be soft.

Allow brownies to cool.
Melt together the butter and chocolate chips in 30 second increments in microwave safe bowl.
Pour over the brownies and smooth out.
Refrigerate brownies until firm, and store in the refrigerator.
