Summer Festivities

On Pioneer day, three years ago, I won a pie baking contest and had a baby.  We decided to celebrate Pioneer day this year in a different fashion, attending Foam Days in Lehi.  It was absolute madness.  The city firefighters pump a field full of foam.

We went with our neighbors, and Luke and Clara were hesitant.  It was a little too chaotic for them to enjoy themselves.  They only lasted about 5 minutes before they wanted to do something else.

Clara jumped into the foam a few times more than Luke.  These kiddos just weren't fond of the new experience.  However, they just look adorable in their goggles!

We've also spent some time at Thanksgiving Point.  The kids love the pony rides.  When it comes time to pick their horse to ride, Clara always goes for the largest pony.  While Luke always chooses the smallest pony.  It's so funny that Clara is such a little dare devil.  While Luke is still cautious.

The other day we took the kids to the swimming pool.  Clara was swimming around in the kid pool going up to other children and parents asking them their name, and telling them about who knows what.  I sat in the middle of the pool just watching her go around striking up conversations.  One parent came up to me asking me about my very social daughter.  They couldn't believe how comfortable she was in the water and how well she talked for a barely 3-year-old little girl.  Clara is just that brave little out going girl that surprises everyone.

We went to the Salt Lake County fair and attended the demolition derby.  We were hesitant to take the kids to this fearing they wouldn't like it or it would be too loud.  We were wrong!  Luke especially loved the smashing cars.  The derby lasted until after 10pm, which is seriously late for these early birds, but they did not want to leave.  It was awesome!  We saw cars smash so hard they flipped over.  It was a definite highlight of the summer!
