We have moved, and I would say we are mostly settled. This means we have unpacked everything, but we are still getting used to a different house. The kids have seemed to transition well. The first day was a little rough. Luke kept saying he wanted to go home. When we went back to our old house to clean it, Luke went to his old room, and ran out screaming "oh no, my bed is gone". After about 2 days, Luke seemed to like the new house. They both have enjoyed the extra space to run around. They both have enjoyed the new large tub. Bath time has always been a high light for these two kiddos.
Luke has been into playing "tickle monster" lately. We have to bribe him to eat, and the reward after usually involves tickle monster. Basically its Luke's opportunity to tickle, and be tickled back. It's so funny to see Luke and Clara interact. Clara is getting old enough that she understands certain commands. She understands tickle monster, and squeals and squeals and squeals. Especially because Luke tries to tickle Clara, and she thinks its hilarious.
Our new house has a kitchen that you can run circles round. The kids love to run around and around and around. This new house is more than twice the size of our old house. We really didn't have furniture to fill up our old house, so our new house looks even more bare. This makes running around that much more fun, because there is no furniture in your way. The kids chase each other around.
Luke is hilarious about turning on and off light switches. Mostly he goes around and turns them all on. I am pretty sure he is afraid of the dark, because he wants all the lights on all the time. He is just the perfect height to just barely reach all the light switches. Or he really likes the fact that he can do it. He is constantly saying "I do it!!!" He's at that age where he wants to independently do everything! He has his sweet moments, but then he has his stubbornness.
These kids can be best friends one minute, and worst enemies the next. It's difficult to keep them separated sometimes, especially when one is sleeping. They are constantly waking each other up- on purpose! I have made the mistake of telling Luke that we can go do something, usually something he has asked to do, "when sister wakes up." That was a mistake I learned the hard way. Luke understands that when sister is awake we will go do something fun. So he takes it upon himself to go wake her up from her nap! Clara has done the same thing. If she wakes up from her nap, and Luke is still napping, she will go open his door, and climb up on his bed, and start trying to play with him. They are inseparable sometimes.
They have the capabilities of playing well together....sometimes. The other evening, Luke has learned the song of 5 little monkeys...He was singing it as they jumped on the bed together. I don't think there is anything cuter than to hear your kids playing nicely with each other and laughing together. They just love each other!
So moving into our new house has been good so far. Pics of the new house to come...
